Good to Know: Nestled in the heart of Castilla y León, Abadía Retuerta is a historic Spanish estate where winemaking tradition meets modern innovation. Established in a restored 12th-century monastery, the winery lies just outside the Ribera del Duero appellation, allowing it the freedom to craft exceptional “Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León” wines. Its 700-hectare estate is home to meticulously managed vineyards planted with Tempranillo alongside Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot, producing wines of remarkable depth and character.
Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial 2020 is a masterful blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, and Petit Verdot that reflects the character of its historic estate in Castilla y León. Aged for around 12–16 months in French and American oak barrels, it reveals aromas of ripe blackberry, plum, and cherry layered with herbal, balsamic, and subtle spicy notes. The palate is fresh yet structured, with soft tannins, lively acidity, and a long, harmonious finish. Highly acclaimed by critics, this elegant red pairs beautifully with roasted red meats, grilled lamb, game, and mature cheeses, and has the depth to be enjoyed now or cellared for years to come.

Kat WynnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great wine bar. They offer a wide selection of wine & the tapas are delicious. I didn't think I'd enjoy bread with olive oil as much as I did! Gambas, patè & croquettes were also delicious. We went at around 2pm and it was quiet - we just wanted something light and available. I believe they offer a variety of meats that has to be pre ordered? We would love to come back. Also, very good service. Peter LacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Txanton offers a focused and authentic take on Spanish dining, grounded in its role as a jamonería and its clear respect for quality produce and tradition. At the heart of the menu is the jamón. The jamón tasting menu is particularly impressive, presenting six different varieties that span the full spectrum of cured ham, each one expertly prepared and deeply flavourful. The supporting dishes are equally strong, including excellent gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimps), a rich and comforting arroz cremoso con frutos de mar (seafood creamy rice), and bold chorizo picante a la brasa (spicy chorizo) with smoky depth. Dessert is distinctive and well judged, with the crema de queso (cream cheese) paired beautifully with PX wine, raisins, and a Tempranillo cookie. Service is relaxed and courteous, with staff providing thoughtful recommendations and attentive care throughout. The setting is welcoming and unpretentious, echoing the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish dining room - ideal for sharing plates, conversation, and good wine. Txanton succeeds in delivering a genuine Spanish experience, excelling in its jamón while offering a consistently well-executed menu.
