Good to Know: Domaine Albert Mann is a renowned family-run estate in Wettolsheim, Alsace, formed from the union of the Mann and Barthelmé families, with winemaking roots dating back to the 17th century. Today, brothers Maurice and Jacky Barthelmé lead the domaine, which spans around 25 hectares, including several prestigious Grand Cru vineyards. Fully certified organic and biodynamic, the estate emphasizes soil health, biodiversity, and minimal intervention to produce pure, terroir-driven wines. Known for its exceptional Rieslings, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and elegant Pinot Noirs, Albert Mann is widely regarded as one of Alsace’s benchmark producers, earning critical acclaim for its precision, balance, and commitment to sustainable viticulture.

Albert Mann Pinot Noir Clos de la Faille 2022 is a biodynamic, single-vineyard red wine from a unique monopole site in Alsace, planted on a complex mix of pink Vosges sandstone, limestone, and quartz soils. The grapes are hand-harvested, partially fermented with whole clusters, and aged for 17 months in French oak barrels, only a small portion of which are new. The wine opens with vibrant aromas of wild raspberry, cherry, forest floor, and warm spices like cardamom and allspice. On the palate, it is refined and expressive, with silky tannins, lively acidity, and a mineral backbone that carries through to a long, savory finish.
Combining elegance and structure, it pairs beautifully with dishes like mushroom ravioli, veal, or beef, and has the depth to age gracefully over the next several years.
