Good To Know: Relatively young in terms of fellow Burgundian Wineries, Sylvain Pataille has established itself through its focus on purity of fruit and terroir, minimal intervention during production and as one of the leading, certified organic vineyards in the Marsannay-la-Côte region in the north of the Côte d'Or.

Established in 1999, winemaker Sylvain Pataille started with just one hectare of vines while still working full time in a laboratory located in Beaune. He decided to go all out on his own venture in 2001 and his success has led to now owning a total of 15 hectares of vineyards within or just outside the boundary of Marsannay, all of which are certified organic. Pataille's use of natural yeasts for fermentation, and minimal doses of sulphur added only during bottling has developed quite the following amongst wine critics and fellow winemakers. Also good to note about Pataille's wines is that his white wines are filtered but not fined and his red wines are bottled without fining or filtration; creating a very unique profile and purity to his style.

The Sylvain Pataille Marsannay Rouge 2023 captures the vibrant energy and pure fruit expression of a generous Burgundy vintage. Renowned for his organic and biodynamic philosophy in the Côte de Nuits, master winemaker Sylvain Pataille harnessed the warmth of the season through gentle, low-intervention vinification and whole-cluster fermentation. The result is a cuvée brimming with succulent dark cherries, wild strawberries, and delicate floral lift, anchored by a bright, refreshing acidity that makes this release remarkably expressive.

Characterized across vintages by its refined elegance, silky texture, and authentic expression of Marsannay terroir, Pataille’s flagship red unfolds with an aromatic tapestry of ripe red berries, subtle spice, and earthy woodland notes. On the palate, fine-grained tannins frame a supple core of Pinot Noir fruit, leading to a vibrant, savory finish. To complement its lively acidity and subtle savory depth, pair this wine with pan-roasted duck, herb-crusted pork tenderloin, wild mushroom risotto, or a platter of aged artisanal cheeses.
