Good to know: Château Saint-Pierre is a subtle and elegant wine. It never fails to make an impression. It has a charming freshness, silky soft tannins and beautiful structure. It has an excellent potential for ageing and is the appellation’s one of the finest wines.
This wine is best served with all classic meat dishes types: Roasted, braised, stewed and grilled dishes - veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game and roast chicken. Saint Pierre is also good when served with Asian dishes, hearty seafood or richly textured fish like tuna, mushrooms, pasta and cheese.
Château Saint-Pierre 2016 is a refined Saint-Julien from Bordeaux’s Left Bank, blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc from 50-year-old vines rooted in gravel and sandy-clay soils. Benefiting from a growing season that began with a cool, wet spring and finished with a warm, dry summer and timely rains in September, the grapes achieved full ripeness and were harvested between late September and mid-October. Aged for 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels, half of which were new, the wine developed impressive depth while retaining freshness. It presents a deep, inky color and a fragrant nose of blackberry, cassis, graphite, violets, and hints of cigar box. On the palate, it is vibrant and structured, with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity framing layers of dark fruit, licorice, tobacco, and mineral tones. Elegant and persistent, it is enjoyable now with decanting and has the potential to age beautifully for many years.
