Giuseppe Cortese Barbera d’Alba Morassina 2020 is a bold and expressive red wine crafted entirely from estate-grown grapes in the Trifolera zone near Barbaresco. Aged for 18 months in a mix of French barriques—about 30% new—and large Slavonian oak casks, followed by six months in bottle, this Barbera combines richness with elegance. It opens with deep ruby-purple hues and aromas of ripe red berries, sweet spices, and subtle hints of tobacco and vanilla from its time in wood. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet balanced, with vibrant acidity and a polished texture that leads to a smooth, persistent finish. With an alcohol level around 14–14.5%, the wine is structured but approachable, making it ideal for pairing with hearty dishes such as agnolotti al ragù, grilled meats, or aged cheeses. The 2020 vintage is drinking beautifully now and promises continued enjoyment over the next few years.
