Good to Know: The elegance and depth of Chambolle-Musigny wines make a compelling statement, first visually with its vibrant ruby color, enhanced by vivid, gleaming reflections. It has a characteristic bouquet of violets and small red fruits. Rich and intricate, Chambolle-Musigny treats the palate to a smooth, lacy texture. Despite its tender delicacy, it upholds a robust and enduring structure, with its tannins displaying a gentle quality.

Well-paired with a Bresse capon featuring delicate fibers, the velvety yet rich tannins of Chambolle-Musigny, and especially the Premiers Crus, subtly envelop the palate.

In Burgundy, the term “Charmes” refers to barren lands, with implications of a "thatch", where hornbeam groves—young, rugged trees known for their heat-resistant wood—once flourished.

Laurent Ponsot’s Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru “Cuvée du Tilleul” 2022 is a graceful and expressive Premier Cru Pinot Noir from Chambolle-Musigny, bottled at 14%. It opens with an elegant bouquet of red cherry, anise, and delicate floral notes reminiscent of carnations, offering both aromatic charm and finesse. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with supple fruit, fine tannins, and a plush texture, while a hint of bitter chocolate on the finish adds complexity and suggests potential for further development. Balanced and seductive, this wine is enjoyable now but will evolve beautifully from 2028 to 2038.
