They took over the historic Tenuta San Giorgio estate, which spans about 22 hectares of organically farmed vineyards averaging 40 years old. The winery focuses on native and international varieties like Pinot Nero, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Croatina, and Barbera, crafting wines with minimal intervention to highlight terroir. Notable labels include Tiāmat Pinot Nero, Katari Pinot Grigio, Rivone Chardonnay, Fredo Barbera Riserva, and Exergia Moscato d’Asti. Cordero San Giorgio brings a fresh, elegant, and expressive style to Oltrepò wines while honoring their Piedmontese roots.
Cordero San Giorgio SG ’67 Pinot Nero 2020 is a refined and expressive red wine crafted from vines planted in 1967 on clay-calcareous soils in Santa Giuletta, Oltrepò Pavese. Made entirely from Pinot Nero, the wine is vinified with partial whole-cluster fermentation and aged in French oak barriques followed by time in large casks and bottle. It reveals complex aromas of red and black cherries, herbs, spice, and subtle notes of cocoa and roasted coffee. On the palate, it offers vibrant red fruit, spice, and balsamic nuances with fine tannins and a persistent finish. Elegant, structured, and age-worthy, this wine is a standout expression of Lombardy Pinot Noir.The 2019 "SG '67" Pinot Nero represents the pinnacle of Cordero San Giorgio’s red wine portfolio, sourced exclusively from the estate's oldest vineyard planted in 1967. Aged in a combination of French oak barriques and large oak casks followed by extended bottle maturation, this old-vine expression showcases a deeper, more powerful side of Oltrepò Pavese Pinot Noir. The 2019 vintage balances rich fruit concentration with remarkable linear tension and aromatic finesse. In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby-garnet hue with a complex bouquet of macerated cherries, red currants, cocoa, dried roses, and subtle hints of forest floor and toasted spice. On the palate, dense yet silky tannins are held in seamless harmony by a fresh mineral core and an enduring, balsamic-tinged finish.
