Good To Know: One of the top estates in Saint Estephe, Chateau Montrose was classified 2eme Grand Cru Classe or Second Growth by the 1855 Classification. Its close proximity to water via the Gironde river, has a moderating effect to both intense cold and extreme heat. The abundance of pebbles in the soil retain daytime warmth as night covers the vineyards, providing substantial aid to the ripening of the grapes.

Château Montrose 2003 is a standout vintage shaped by an exceptionally hot, dry summer. Despite the extreme conditions, the estate’s deep gravel soils helped preserve freshness in the vines, allowing them to thrive. The result is a wine of remarkable power and elegance—rich and full-bodied, yet perfectly balanced. This vintage reflects the strength of Montrose’s terroir, producing a wine with great structure, refined tannins, and outstanding ageing potential. Widely regarded as a historic success, the 2003 is a must-have for serious collectors and Bordeaux enthusiasts alike.
In the glass, it reveals a dense purple color with ruby highlights. The nose is intense and layered, offering aromas of ripe red berries, blackcurrant, mocha, liquorice, and floral notes of peony. The palate is opulent and complex, featuring black fruit, dark chocolate, and silky tannins. Full-bodied and structured, it finishes long and velvety, with impressive aromatic depth and freshness. A superb wine that beautifully balances richness and finesse.
