Good to know: Known for producing immensely structured and long lived wines, Chateau Pontet Canet was classified as a 5eme Grand Cru Classe or 5th growth by the 1855 Classification. Founded by Jean-Francois de Pontet, royal governor of the Médoc, he combined several Pauillac vineyard plots in the 1720s to form what is present day Chateau Pontet Canet. The winery is also known for being the first classified Medoc estate to fully convert into biodynamic agriculture back during their first trial in 2004.
The 2003 vintage of Chateau Pontet Canet remains incredibly young to this day. Brilliant in both complexity and fruit and flirtatiously vibrant in tannins. A full bodied classic that easily defies time under good cellar conditions. Notes of creme de cassis and blackcurrant meld beautifully with earthy notes of graphite and truffles. Nuances of licorice and coffee linger together with a burst of dark fruit on the palate. It's bountifully elegant finish is only capitalized by its robust and highly pleasurable tannic structure.
Located in Pauillac, Chateau Pontet Canet has been owned by the Tesseron family of Cognac since 1975. It has since retained its 5eme Grand Cru Classe and is widely known for producing wines that possess classic Pauillac tannic structure which inevitably contributes to their wines' aging potential and power. Apart from this, they were the first classified Medoc estate to convert into 100% biodynamic viticulture apart from already being certified for organic viticulture and production.

Kat WynnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great wine bar. They offer a wide selection of wine & the tapas are delicious. I didn't think I'd enjoy bread with olive oil as much as I did! Gambas, patè & croquettes were also delicious. We went at around 2pm and it was quiet - we just wanted something light and available. I believe they offer a variety of meats that has to be pre ordered? We would love to come back. Also, very good service. Peter LacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Txanton offers a focused and authentic take on Spanish dining, grounded in its role as a jamonería and its clear respect for quality produce and tradition. At the heart of the menu is the jamón. The jamón tasting menu is particularly impressive, presenting six different varieties that span the full spectrum of cured ham, each one expertly prepared and deeply flavourful. The supporting dishes are equally strong, including excellent gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimps), a rich and comforting arroz cremoso con frutos de mar (seafood creamy rice), and bold chorizo picante a la brasa (spicy chorizo) with smoky depth. Dessert is distinctive and well judged, with the crema de queso (cream cheese) paired beautifully with PX wine, raisins, and a Tempranillo cookie. Service is relaxed and courteous, with staff providing thoughtful recommendations and attentive care throughout. The setting is welcoming and unpretentious, echoing the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish dining room - ideal for sharing plates, conversation, and good wine. Txanton succeeds in delivering a genuine Spanish experience, excelling in its jamón while offering a consistently well-executed menu.
