Good to know: Marqués de Vargas Family Vineyards & Cellars is a saga of four generations devoted to the production and commercialization of single-estate wines in the most prestigious wine areas in Spain, with current estates in D.O.Ca Rioja, D.O. Ribera del Duero and D.O. Rías Baixas. Noble wines from a solid family project, the outcome of the commitment, the tenacity and vision of generations devoted to winemaking.

The estate-owned vineyards are planted in south-facing terraces, forming a natural amphitheater, which slope down to reach the banks of the river Miño.

The winemaking process of this Albariño is unique, as it benefits from three types of vinification: maceration of 1/3 of the grapes at low temperature (11 ºC), whole bunch pressing of another 1/3 of the grapes and direct pressing for the third part of them. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats during 10 to 15 days at a controlled temperature, looking for the terroir typicity and the varietal expression.

The 2024 vintage of Pazo de San Mauro is an exceptional 100% Albariño that beautifully embodies the Rías Baixas vineyard and its distinct terroir. This particular vintage stands out for its remarkable intensity and aromatic complexity, offering captivating notes of apple, fresh lychee, ripe citrus, and white blossoms. On the palate, it highlights a medium body with fresh acidity, delivering striking freshness, refined minerality, and a signature saline twist on its persistent finish. With its juicy, drinkable character, this release captures the lively essence of a historic vineyard whose roots date back to the 16th century. To fully appreciate its crisp, oceanic qualities, the 2024 Pazo de San Mauro Albariño pairs wonderfully with appetizers, fresh shellfish such as scallops, crab, and lobster, as well as seafood-based pastas or delicate Asian cuisine.
