Good to Know: The estate was first established in the middle of the nineteenth century, but Amédée Merme spent much of the first decade of the 20th century organizing and growing the vineyard. Together with his son Armand, they worked to make high-quality wines in order to protect the estate's reputation in France and elsewhere. Marie-France Merme and her husband Henri Perrot-Minot carried on her father Armand's work in the 1970s. The estate was renamed Perrot-Minot after Marie-France and Henri took over management following Armand's passing.

After seven years as a wine dealer, their son, Christophe Perrot-Minot, joined the estate and became manager in 1993. His past expertise had given him an in-depth understanding and true command of wine cultivation.

The Domaine Perrot-Minot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru came from vines of 50 years of age. The soil is distinguished by its reddish hue, indicative of rendzinas composition. It boasts a thin layer, interrupted by stoniness and occasional marl formations in some regions. Rock tips appear throughout, hinting at a broken bedrock. This feature promotes the emergence of deep roots.
