Good To Know: Giacomo Fenocchio is based in Barolo, in Piedmonte region of Italy. It is a family cared for vineyard passed down from five generations. Now, the current estate is owned and ran by Claudio Fenocchio with his brothers and house winemaker. Making sure to not only maintain but also improve the quality.
Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo Villero 2021 is a focused and expressive Barolo from one of Castiglione Falletto’s most esteemed vineyards. Crafted using traditional methods, including spontaneous fermentation, a long maceration period of about 40 days, and aging in large Slavonian oak casks, this wine reflects the elegance and structure typical of Villero. The vineyard’s calcareous and clay-rich soils impart a refined mineral backbone and freshness. On the nose, it reveals delicate aromas of red berries, dried rose, tobacco, and subtle earthy spice. The palate is structured yet graceful, showing layers of cherry, herbal tones, and fine tannins that promise excellent aging potential. While still young, the 2021 vintage displays balance, depth, and a quiet intensity that will unfold beautifully with time, making it a classic choice for cellaring or pairing with rich meats, mushroom dishes, or aged cheeses.
