Good To Know: Guiseppe Cortese winery is taken well care of by a family that has been protecting and enhancing the Barbaresco region since 1971. The winegrowing is a long tradition carried on by the children: Pier Carlo and Tizinia and son-in-law Gabrielle.
The winery has been developing a vineyard with an area of 8 hectares and has been expanding their production range.
Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco 2021 is a refined and classically styled Nebbiolo crafted primarily from the Rabajà and Trifolera vineyards in Barbaresco. Fermented on the skins for about 30 days and aged for 18 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by at least six months in bottle, the wine offers both structure and elegance. It opens with a bright garnet hue and an aromatic bouquet of ripe red fruits, rose petals, peony, and delicate spice notes, with hints of vanilla and tobacco. On the palate, it is vibrant and finely textured, with lively acidity, polished tannins, and layered flavors of cherry, raspberry, herbs, and subtle mineral tones. The finish is long and refreshing. While approachable with decanting, the 2021 vintage shows excellent aging potential and pairs beautifully with dishes like game, roast meats, truffle pasta, or aged cheeses.
