Good to Know: Perez Barquero is a winery located in Montilla, a southern region of Andalucia in Spain. The winery specializes in producing a variety of wines and brandies, all of which are representative of the Montilla-Moriles denomination.
Established in 1905 by three brothers named José, Julián, and Emilio Pérez Barquero, the estate has a long-standing history. The main solera aging system was implemented 50 years after its founding, but there is also a "foundation" solera from 1905 that still exists. Both collections of wines are still being released by the winery.
In 1985, the company was acquired by the Córdoba, Ruz, and Gracia families, a local conglomerate. With Rafael Córdoba García currently leading the winery, the Córdoba family holds the majority of the shares. During the following two decades, the winery placed great emphasis on expanding its export activities.
Offering a diverse range of brands and wine styles, Perez Barquero produces dry, sweet, and fortified wines, reminiscent of the sherry-style. These wines are primarily crafted from the local Pedro Ximenez grape, which is a widely-used and respected variety.
The company's portfolio includes various esteemed brands such as Gran Barquero, 1955 Soleras Cincuentenario, 1905 Soleras Fundacionales, La Cañada, Los Amigos, and Monte Cristo. Additionally, a range of brandies, spirits (mainly Rum), vinegars, and Vermouth are also offered by the company.

Kat WynnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great wine bar. They offer a wide selection of wine & the tapas are delicious. I didn't think I'd enjoy bread with olive oil as much as I did! Gambas, patè & croquettes were also delicious. We went at around 2pm and it was quiet - we just wanted something light and available. I believe they offer a variety of meats that has to be pre ordered? We would love to come back. Also, very good service. Peter LacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Txanton offers a focused and authentic take on Spanish dining, grounded in its role as a jamonería and its clear respect for quality produce and tradition. At the heart of the menu is the jamón. The jamón tasting menu is particularly impressive, presenting six different varieties that span the full spectrum of cured ham, each one expertly prepared and deeply flavourful. The supporting dishes are equally strong, including excellent gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimps), a rich and comforting arroz cremoso con frutos de mar (seafood creamy rice), and bold chorizo picante a la brasa (spicy chorizo) with smoky depth. Dessert is distinctive and well judged, with the crema de queso (cream cheese) paired beautifully with PX wine, raisins, and a Tempranillo cookie. Service is relaxed and courteous, with staff providing thoughtful recommendations and attentive care throughout. The setting is welcoming and unpretentious, echoing the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish dining room - ideal for sharing plates, conversation, and good wine. Txanton succeeds in delivering a genuine Spanish experience, excelling in its jamón while offering a consistently well-executed menu.
