Good to know: Thee popular proverb says that “there is no early harvest that is not bad”, and that was Cenit had in 2017 year... a tremendously early and difficult vintage, marked by strong spring frosts, hail and a severe drought, all this caused them to have little grape and uneven ripening. Therefore a year of challenges in terms of elaboration and interpretation of the vintage, from which they finally obtained a complex and elegant wine, suggestive and full of nuances.
Via Cenit is matured for 14 months in french oak (60% new oak). With a shy, suggestive and especially complex aromatic profile. Black fruit accompanied by an interesting minerality, along with subtle notes of sweet and creamy spices provided by the aging. In the mouth it is silky and with a final tension that keeps it in the mouth for a long time.
Bodegas Viñas del Cénit has 32 temperature controlled stainless-steel open tub-type tanks tanks. The open tanks are ideal for fermenting the Tempranillo variety of the region, as they allow the musts to oxygenate perfectly during the alcoholic fermentation, and they favour the contact of the thick skins of the old grapes with the must.
In the millenary region of Tierra del Vino de Zamora, enriched by the pass of pilgrims through the Vía de la Plata for several years, Bodegas Viñas del Cenit acquires its meaning through some of the most unique centenary vineyards in Spain. The region in Zamora called Tierra de Vino has been engaged in the production of wine since the 11th century, according to the oldest text found. Historically, the area’s economy was fully based on the production of wine and eau de vie. This winemaking tradition and the love of the area’s population for vineyards has resulted in the preservation of vineyards with over 150 years of age, particularly in the area in which the bodega is located, in the village of Villanueva de Campeán.
Great wines are built here with a special balance between power and the area’s character thanks to these unique vineyards and the love professed by the people who take care of them throughout their entire cycle. These wines have a marvellous acidity that provide them with finesse, elegance and the capacity to live and evolve in the bottle for many years.

Kat WynnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great wine bar. They offer a wide selection of wine & the tapas are delicious. I didn't think I'd enjoy bread with olive oil as much as I did! Gambas, patè & croquettes were also delicious. We went at around 2pm and it was quiet - we just wanted something light and available. I believe they offer a variety of meats that has to be pre ordered? We would love to come back. Also, very good service. Peter LacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Txanton offers a focused and authentic take on Spanish dining, grounded in its role as a jamonería and its clear respect for quality produce and tradition. At the heart of the menu is the jamón. The jamón tasting menu is particularly impressive, presenting six different varieties that span the full spectrum of cured ham, each one expertly prepared and deeply flavourful. The supporting dishes are equally strong, including excellent gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimps), a rich and comforting arroz cremoso con frutos de mar (seafood creamy rice), and bold chorizo picante a la brasa (spicy chorizo) with smoky depth. Dessert is distinctive and well judged, with the crema de queso (cream cheese) paired beautifully with PX wine, raisins, and a Tempranillo cookie. Service is relaxed and courteous, with staff providing thoughtful recommendations and attentive care throughout. The setting is welcoming and unpretentious, echoing the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish dining room - ideal for sharing plates, conversation, and good wine. Txanton succeeds in delivering a genuine Spanish experience, excelling in its jamón while offering a consistently well-executed menu.
