Good to Know: In the Cote de Nuits in Domaine Vougeot, close to the famous Chateau du Clos Vougeot, Bertagna is a wine estate located in Burgundy, France.
Domaine Bertgana produces white and red wines using their own Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes in their regional appellations, villages, premier crus and grand crus.
The Domaine Bertagna Les Murgers is cultivated with great care, utilizing organic farming techniques that prioritize the soil's well-being. With a focus on ensuring exceptional quality, the vineyard management implements stringent measures such as green harvesting and de-budding to effectively control yields. Both in the field and at the winery, the grapes are meticulously handpicked and sorted, undergoing a rigorous selection process. Subsequently, the wine undergoes a meticulous aging period of 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, with 50% of the barrels being newly sourced oak.
Characterized by its velvety tannins and delicate nature, Domaine Bertagna Les Murgers offers enchanting aromas of small red fruits. This wine, which fully embodies its "terroir," presents a captivating and full-bodied profile that is sure to captivate wine enthusiasts.
The 2014 vintage in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits is celebrated among connoisseurs as a benchmark of classicism, balance, and pure terroir expression. Saved by a sunny, crisp September following a slow summer, the growing season allowed Pinot Noir grapes to achieve complete phenolic maturity while retaining vibrant natural acidity. The resulting 2014 reds are prized for their aromatic clarity, graceful architecture, and refined energy, offering a quintessential Burgundian charm that bridges bright, expressive fruit with remarkable long-term aging potential.
In the glass, the Bertagna Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers 2014 highlights its premier location right on the Vosne-Romanée border, opening with an alluring nose of wild red berries, dark plums, and ripe cherries complemented by subtle oak spice and earthy forest-floor nuances. The palate is rich, full-bodied, and deeply structured, balancing dark fruit density with velvety, well-integrated tannins and a long, stony mineral finish. This harmonious interplay of power and finesse makes it a sublime companion for dining, pairing effortlessly with roasted duck breast, herb-crusted lamb chops, braised pork belly, or rich mushroom dishes and aged cheeses like Gouda and Gruyère.

Kat WynnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great wine bar. They offer a wide selection of wine & the tapas are delicious. I didn't think I'd enjoy bread with olive oil as much as I did! Gambas, patè & croquettes were also delicious. We went at around 2pm and it was quiet - we just wanted something light and available. I believe they offer a variety of meats that has to be pre ordered? We would love to come back. Also, very good service. Peter LacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Txanton offers a focused and authentic take on Spanish dining, grounded in its role as a jamonería and its clear respect for quality produce and tradition. At the heart of the menu is the jamón. The jamón tasting menu is particularly impressive, presenting six different varieties that span the full spectrum of cured ham, each one expertly prepared and deeply flavourful. The supporting dishes are equally strong, including excellent gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimps), a rich and comforting arroz cremoso con frutos de mar (seafood creamy rice), and bold chorizo picante a la brasa (spicy chorizo) with smoky depth. Dessert is distinctive and well judged, with the crema de queso (cream cheese) paired beautifully with PX wine, raisins, and a Tempranillo cookie. Service is relaxed and courteous, with staff providing thoughtful recommendations and attentive care throughout. The setting is welcoming and unpretentious, echoing the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish dining room - ideal for sharing plates, conversation, and good wine. Txanton succeeds in delivering a genuine Spanish experience, excelling in its jamón while offering a consistently well-executed menu.
