The origins of Clos Saint Denis trace back to the 11th century, when it was initially owned by the canons of Vergy who were devoted followers of Saint Denis.

Laurent Ponsot, a renowned wine company, produces this iconic wine that exemplifies an ancient-style elixir. The vines used for its production were planted in 1911 and continue to offer the true essence of the terroir, owing to their century-old heritage.

Laurent Ponsot’s Clos-Saint-Denis Grand Cru “Cuvée du Merisier” 2022 is a refined and expressive Pinot Noir from century-old vines planted in 1905. Bottled at 14%, it shows a deep yet elegant purple hue and opens with a beautifully perfumed nose of red cherry, violet, anise, rose petal, and mineral spice. The palate is medium-bodied but structured, delivering a layered and focused expression of fruit, balanced by a stony backbone and a long, graceful finish. I first visited without notice to scout the venue for a business meeting, and they kindly showed me around. This time, I returned for a private dinner.

Communication via WhatsApp was seamless and friendly, allowing us to pre-order the Gambas al Ajillo and Cochinillo. The Gambas was cooked to perfection with amazing flavor, and the Cochinillo was a masterpiece—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside.
