Country / Region: Spain / DO Ribera del Duero
Alcohol Content / Volume: 14.5% / 750ml

Decanting Time: Open bottle for 30 minutes and decant for at least 1 and half hours for the best experience. Enjoy and serve at 18°C. Alion holds a potential ageing window of approximately 15-20 years if kept in ideal conditions: constant temperature of 12-14 ºC and 60% relative humidity.
Our suggestion for decanting time is based on bottles we tried at Txanton over 2024. We guarantee Txanton stocks are imported and maintained on a proper storage with right temperature and humidity.
Good to know: Alión is formed by a careful selection of plots spread across the best of Ribera del Duero. These plots, which complement each other, joined by the same kind of viticulture as Vega Sicilia, have given rise to firm structured wines.
Alión is a fleshy, complex, intense wine, where elegance plays a differentiating role and is the winery´s hallmark. Of outstanding personality, lots in Alion are guided through 12 months aging in French oak barrels and 5% American oak, to obtain maximum complexity from the diversity of soil.
Even though TEMPOS Vega Sicilia group was set up in 1982 by the Alvarez family, Vega Sicilia was founded by Eloy Lecanda y Chaves in 1864. He was a Spanish winemaker trained in Bordeaux who returned to his homeland with cabernet sauvignon and merlot grapes. In the 20th century, Vega Sicilia earned a reputation as being one of the most notable wines in Spain.
Over its history, the winery has had many notable winemakers including Mariano Garcia who was a winemaker from 1966 to 1996 before moving on to produce his own labels (Mauro, San Roman and Garmon).
The Álvarez family's business project is based on two fundamental cornerstones: consistency of the quality of the product as a guarantee for the different vintages, and dedication to the client as a benchmark in its routine activity.
Both cornerstones have underpinned the development of the group and have enabled very solid growth both in terms of the production structure and of the distribution and positioning of the different wines. The group currently consists of 5 companies (Bodegas Vega Sicilia S.A, Bodegas y Viñedos Alión S.A., Bodegas y Viñedos Pintia S.A., Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia S.A. and Tokaj-Oremus Kft.), the first four in Spain and the fifth in Hungary.
From the positioning perspective, the group enjoys a magnificent public image among its clients and in the rest of the market alike. This image is endorsed both by the international awards that it receives annually and for the numerous appearances in the media around the world. But particularly for the huge acceptance that its wines have in the different markets in which they are present.

Kat WynnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great wine bar. They offer a wide selection of wine & the tapas are delicious. I didn't think I'd enjoy bread with olive oil as much as I did! Gambas, patè & croquettes were also delicious. We went at around 2pm and it was quiet - we just wanted something light and available. I believe they offer a variety of meats that has to be pre ordered? We would love to come back. Also, very good service. Peter LacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Txanton offers a focused and authentic take on Spanish dining, grounded in its role as a jamonería and its clear respect for quality produce and tradition. At the heart of the menu is the jamón. The jamón tasting menu is particularly impressive, presenting six different varieties that span the full spectrum of cured ham, each one expertly prepared and deeply flavourful. The supporting dishes are equally strong, including excellent gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimps), a rich and comforting arroz cremoso con frutos de mar (seafood creamy rice), and bold chorizo picante a la brasa (spicy chorizo) with smoky depth. Dessert is distinctive and well judged, with the crema de queso (cream cheese) paired beautifully with PX wine, raisins, and a Tempranillo cookie. Service is relaxed and courteous, with staff providing thoughtful recommendations and attentive care throughout. The setting is welcoming and unpretentious, echoing the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish dining room - ideal for sharing plates, conversation, and good wine. Txanton succeeds in delivering a genuine Spanish experience, excelling in its jamón while offering a consistently well-executed menu.
