Good To Know: Giacomo Fenocchio is based in Barolo, in Piedmonte region of Italy. It is a family cared for vineyard passed down from five generations. Now, the current estate is owned and ran by Claudio Fenocchio with his brothers and house winemaker. Making sure to not only maintain but also improve the quality.
Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo Cannubi 2009 is a refined and harmonious expression of Nebbiolo from one of Barolo’s most iconic crus. Sourced from a small half-hectare plot on the limestone- and marl-rich soils of Cannubi in Barolo, the wine is crafted using traditional methods, including a native yeast fermentation with a lengthy 40-day maceration, followed by aging in stainless steel and large Slavonian oak casks. Now beautifully mature, it offers a complex bouquet of ripe raspberry, rose petals, violets, and warm spices, with mineral and floral undertones. The palate is elegant and full-bodied, unfolding with dark cherry, dried fruit, tobacco, licorice, and earthy herbs, supported by fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. The 2009 vintage has softened with age but retains vibrancy and structure, making it ideal for pairing with braised meats, aged cheeses, or truffle-infused dishes. This Barolo captures the graceful aging potential and nuanced complexity of the Cannubi vineyard.
