Good To Know: Highly celebrated by both compatriots and the wine community as one of Burgundy's rising stars, David Duband now has 20 vintages of experience under his name. His expansion of his family's domaine now include exceptional plots in both Gevrey Chambertin and Morey Saint Denis. Also, in 2006, David Duband opted to convert his his domaine into 100% organic farming, primarily for his respect and care for the environment as well as to create intrinsic quality wines.

Domaine David Duband places a strong emphasis in both harvesting and winemaking using traditional Burgundian methods. Harvest is done entirely by hand and crushing done by foot press. Beginning 2008, David Duband also places an emphasis in whole cluster fermentation which gives his wines more structure and finesse.

The 2023 vintage highlights the vibrant freshness, transparency, and varietal purity of Burgundian Pinot Noir, perfectly capturing Domaine David Duband’s organic, precision-driven winemaking philosophy. Named in tribute to David Duband’s son, the "Louis Auguste" cuvée originates from 50-year-old vines planted on south-facing limestone and marl slopes elevated in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits. Vinified using approximately 60% whole-cluster fermentation and aged for 13 months in mostly neutral oak (25% new), this 2023 release balances the cool-climate precision of the vintage with supple texture, delivering an approachable yet complex reflection of the high-elevation terroir.

The nose opens with bright, inviting aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, and crushed violets, accompanied by subtle nuances of sweet licorice, floral spice, and an underlying earthy minerality. On the palate, it is fresh and sleek with a light-to-medium body, supported by fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and a silky mouthfeel that glides into a clean, harmonious finish. To highlight its lifted fruit profile and savory undertones, pair this bottle with herb-roasted chicken, duck breast with berry reduction, pan-seared veal, wild mushroom tagliatelle, or mild semi-firm cheeses like Comté.
